Monthly Budget Breakdown ~ April 2013

In an effort to challenge my contentment meter and stay within a budget,
I have $50 per month to spend on Decor & DIY projects for around the house.
On the first Tuesday of every month I'll show you how I spent it.

Here is the monthly break down for April...

Starting Balance = -$1.77 (you can check out here to see what was spent in March.)
Income: April $50 - Starting Balance  = $48.23 left to spend

This might just be the most that I have started a month with thus far...progress, I am making PROGRESS! :-)

I must say, this whole keeping track of decor & diy purchases is really changing my thinking. I find that I definitely don't make as many random purchases because I am really thinking through each one. I might still buy things to bring home and try but whenever I'm not 100% sold on an item, then it goes right back into the return bin.

With our big road trip, and second family vacation ever, I decided not to tackle a decor project that I had been thinking of starting in April. That being said, this month was all about some small purchases that created some long lasting beauty & function.

I purchased a new floral file box for $5.99 & tray for $5.00 from Target to spruce up my desk a little and create some added organizational space.

I also purchased a card holder for the left side of my desk, it was $3.99 at Office Max. I love the design and pop of white.

I purchased some supplies for the beginning piece of my gallery wall in the dining room. A wooden frame from Michaels for $7.99 and some 3M poster strips for $3.99.

My final purchase of the month was a fabulous clearance find from Target that I customized a little and added to my piano spring decor. I spent a whopping $4.48 on that.

Final Breakdown...
Beginning Balance $48.23 - ($31.44 April purchases) = $16.79 (Money in my pocket...score!)

What a fun month of little changes that didn't break the bank!

Did you purchase anything fun this month or conquer a DIY project that you have been wanting to do? Tell me all about it...I love hearing how others are creating a home that they love and enjoy!
