My Go To Places For Home Decor

Like any family we are on a budget, so last year when I was adding some decor to our newly finished basement I shopped at a few of my favorite places. Some things didn't cost me anything because I shopped right at home.

Those items are worth far more than gold...

With five kids and life these days, I don't have a lot of time to window shop so I have a few go to places that I love to swing by when I have a space to decorate in mind.

My go to places are Target, Home Goods, Ikea & Gordmans.

Gordmans is a great store for inexpensive decor. They have lots of trendy pieces, lamps, vases, candle holders, gardening, frames...all at inexpensive prices.

I love subway art and especially loved this list of playroom rules. Of course my mommy brain can't remember if I got this from Home Goods, Gordmans or somewhere else, but it was from one of those go to places! :-)

Two of my dear friends saw these bins at Ikea and surprised me with them. The funny thing is that I had bought these for another friend as a gift because I had thought that they were so cute and they reminded me of her!

I love it when friends know each other so well. :-)

I also like to shop our home and this wedding gift is one of my favorites! Our wonderful neighbor, next door to the house that I grew up in, gave this to us after our wedding. She took the photos at our wedding and then put them in the frame as a gift. I still can't believe how big her kids are that I babysat years ago. Every time I see this, I think of their precious family.

Finally, here is my absolute favorite. A mix of many things

A precious friend gave us the custom wall decal back when our oldest three kids first came to live with us. I was holding onto it for months to find the perfect spot for it.

I found the tree decal at Target.

It makes my heart smile to see those five smiling faces in a room that we spend most of our time.

I believe that your home should be filled with things that make YOU smile.

It is great to have some go to places to shop when time is limited. As you continue to turn your house into a home don't be afraid to mix things up! Go ahead and add in sentimental items that will add to the decor of your room while also making your heart smile from the great memories that you have gathered throughout the years!

What are some of your go to places to shop for decor?

  1. I love the personal touches along with the trendy items. I have to admit that my favorite place to shop for decor items is usually Goodwill, but that might have a little something to do with the fact that all home decorating comes out of my birthday and Christmas money since there's not very much wiggle room in the budget right now.

I do love a good window shopping through Ross, Hobby Lobby, Target, and Home Goods when I get the chance!

    1. Allyson,

The Goodwill is a great place to find items! I wish that we had a Hobby Lobby near us...I love that store.
