Monthly Budget Breakdown ~ June 2013

In an effort to challenge my contentment meter and stay within a budget,
I have $50 per month to spend on Decor & DIY projects for around the house.
On the first Tuesday of every month I'll show you how I spent it.

Here is the monthly break down for June...

Starting Balance = $11.97 (you can check out here to see what was spent in May.)
Income: June $50 + Starting Balance  = $61.97 left to spend

Here is the thing...I didn't spend anything this month! (Sam are you reading this?) ;-) In the history of this 7 month blog that has never happened. I'll contribute that to a few different reasons.

1) First of all contentment...while I have been bringing things into our home that make me smile, I also realize that I am at a place where I don't need anything right now. I'll always have projects on my brain...I'll chalk that up to keeping my mind moving and loving the opportunity to be creative. However, not everything has to cost money to implement. While there are things that I would like to add to my home, nothing is a need right now.

2) Aint Nobody Got Time For That! I love making updates to our home, whether it be organizational or decorative, but sometimes I don't have as much time for a new project because of trips or family vacations or because it keeps raining every SINGLE day and it is hard to paint furniture inside. :-) I'm determined to not create projects just for the sake of blogging about them. Any other person has to pick and choose what updates they are going to do in their home based on their budget and time...I am no different.

3) It was a fun month to show you some of the projects that have already been done in our home. They are still recent to us and some rooms have even changed with no cost involved. Creativity my friends...who says you need $50?! :-)

4) I'm saving up! I've been slowly learning...let's browse and think twice before making a purchase. After all, I'm trying to teach our kids to do that...I figured I should learn too.

In the end I have lots to blog about whether that means a dime was spent out of my pocket or not. I've actually already spent some money in July for updating our toy storage and possibly creating a menu board and...well, you will just have to wait and see! :-)

What are you saving up for? Do you have any decor or organizational projects that you just can't wait to tackle?

Want to stay connected? Check out these great ways!

  1. after you announced with the title on FB of "unbelievable," I figured you were too busy this month to do much at home, and you've made such strides in your home, and in your contentment, it would probably wait another month! And I guessed right...but that also means you can spend more another month, maybe a bigger project?? Just having fun vicariously imagining the possibilities since my home decor budget is $0. :-)
