A Simple Fall Banner

I'm not usually a holiday decorator. That simply means that I don't usually decorate for Easter, Valentine's Day, Halloween, etc. I usually stick to three main themes throughout the year. 1) Everyday Life (which switches up enough in this house that one might think that another holiday has come and gone), 2) Christmas ('tis a wonderful season) and finally 3) Fall (ahhhhh...my favorite season.)

Pumpkins, and Cider, and Hay Rides, and Bonfires, and Sweaters, and Candy Corn, and Walks Along Crunchy Leaves, and Cool Breezes, AND...ahhhhh. :-)

I spent six minutes in HomeGoods and discovered that I am totally into giant acorns.

and giant owls.

I wanted to keep things simple, so besides those two items I gathered things that I could find around the house. What are moms to do over a play date but scheme and decorate fall decor while talking about school starting and sipping coffee? It all happened the same day that this did.

I've always loved this picture from years ago. Adults are never too big to swing every once in a while...especially while you are sitting next to your best friend.

There was just one thing missing.

I really wanted to make a homemade banner. I've actually never made a homemade one before.

Then, in one of those perfect timing moments, Shanty2Chic shared this amazing printable. You too can create whatever kind of banner that you like...for free! Shanty2Chic, you gals are pretty amazing.

So during one nap time I was too excited to rest myself and decided to whip up a simple banner to complete the Fall mantel.

It makes me smile...grinning from ear to ear.

It is amazing what a printer, some colored paper, a small rope, and taking one of your kids glue sticks out of their school supplies will do to so easily bring a smile to your face.

The banner was the icing on the cake.

Here is to all of the banners that you could create for each and every holiday (or season) that you enjoy!

  3. Love your banner, I made one today also. I love to make banners, no matter what the season. They're usually easy and quick and look so nice, Yours looks great, enjoy it.
Uh oh, candy corn, or Indian candy corn, my very favorite. Love Fall so much, the colors, having windows, doors open, getting dark earlier every night. I've always favored Fall, like to decorate for it as it lasts until after Thanksgiving. I sure miss when kids (4) were young and still at home, their excitement.
Then Christmas craziness. Love Christmas but not all the hullabaloo. Getting old I think, duh, is 73 old? I love to decorate for Christmas but it seems you just get everything all fixed up pretty and it's time to take it down, pack it up. Never seems to be easy, then it's dullsville til Easter. I need a reason to decorate for a season, or a holiday lol.
I have to commend you for adopting 3 siblings, such an unselfish loving thing to do. Happy weekend

  4. Simple is just sometimes the best way to go. I love simple and easy and you know what, it always winds up looking just as good as something that is difficult to make. I love this banner. Thanks for linking up to Thrifty Thursday.
