A Blogiversary And Some Of My Favorite Posts

Wow, it is hard to believe that An Inviting Home turned ONE yesterday! (It seems like yesterday I was celebrating the 6 month mark.)

It is a joy to pause and reflect over the past year and all that has taken place.

Instantly I think of...

...the nights that I stayed up way too late trying to figure out things like how to add the "pin" button to images and how to create a Facebook page. Thank you Google! The questions you can ask and get answers for is amazing.

I think of the home projects that always bring a smile to my face as I walk by the finished product and the ideas that failed even before they got off of the ground. And ok, there is that little thing called a budget that I discovered wasn't all that bad either...it actually kept me really motivated to make decisions on what I wanted to implement most. Ok, and there were about 15+ times over the course of the year where I had wished that I had never even mentioned that little six letter word.

I think of the things that I have learned with my kids and the list of things that I wish I knew as a parent (my prayer right now is to make it through 3rd grade math!)

I think of the things stirring in my heart concerning adoption. Honestly I just cry most of the time when I listen to anyone talking about adoption. It is so a part of who we are as a family and it also feels like our family has been this way from the very beginning. I can't explain all that I feel on this topic but I can say that my heart is a heap of mush wishing that I had all of the answers that any of you might have about adoption and yet knowing that I probably don't have a clue. I hope that by sharing little experiences that we have walked through it might help someone else in their journey and encourage them to keep asking questions until they find the answers. Someone in this wonderful, vast world is bound to have the answers! Have you tried Google? ;-)

I think of the new friendships that have been made as I've discovered this wonderful world of blogging.

I think of how humbled and encouraged I've been by people's kind comments and emails.

I think of how putting your heart out there is a little...ok, REALLY scary. I think of the times where I am driving in the car with the music turned up and tears are flowing down my face. In those moments I'm thinking of the things that God is working in my own life and if and when I should share them with all of you. Some are tucked away in my heart forever and some I've mustered up the courage to share.

As I close the chapter on this first year and look ahead to the next one I am excited for all that is yet to come! My goal with this blog has always been to help & encourage others. With little ones still at home I honestly don't have time for much, but I want to use the time that I do well.

I want to keep it simple...keep it focused.

I'll be making a few changes when it comes to my blogging schedule. I'm going to combine parenting and adoption to all be covered on Mondays. One week will be about parenting and one week will be more focused on adoption in some way. Wednesday will continue to be focused on organization and Fridays will be all about decor

I can't conclude this post without saying that I also think of all of YOU! Some of you I know by name and some of you I only know by seeing the ticker telling me that you stopped by. You all have a story and if I could have each one of you over for a cup of coffee and hear what that story is...I would! It is a blessing to have you walking alongside An Inviting Home.

I hope that you find this place helpful, inspiring, encouraging and most of all...inviting.

And just for fun as we celebrate this milestone today, I'll leave you with some of my favorite posts over the past year and their "winning categories" so to speak.

  3. Happy anniversary! I just found you on Pinterest and thought I would check out what you have learned in a year. I have been blogging for 6 months and I feel like I am still in the dark and still can't figure out how people make money at this without selling out. Anyway, I think I'll stick around and follow you via bloglovin'- Nice to meet you!

    1. Thanks Beth...so nice to meet you and congratulations on 6 months! I wish I had secrets to share about blogging for income but I just keep sticking to writing content that I am most passionate about. It is more of a hobby for me since I am a stay at home mom and we live off of one income but maybe someday once all of my kids are in school I'll have more tips to share as I explore this great big wonderful world of blogging. :-)

  4. Congrats on your anniversary! We hope to adopt someday and your story is so inspiring! I checked out your blog after your comment on mine, and I think I'll stick around! I love learning more about larger families and I'm loving your organizational ideas, just as much as IHeart Organizing's! I'm sure it takes a lot of work to keep a family of seven organized!
