A New Horizon & A Big Announcement

If you could do anything what would it be?

I remember asking myself that question over a decade ago. I was graduating from Bible college and I felt like anything could happen. There was one great big world before me and I believed in one great BIG God...the possibilities were endless.

I also wanted to get married and dreamed of being a mom. So with those two things on the horizon I decided that I would simply figure out the rest later.

Then the horizon turned into a 10 year journey to bring me to today.

Now, as a wife, mom, and part-time blogger, I feel as though I am living out my dreams. Blogging has given me a way to encourage others and share a few tips of things that I have learned along the journey. I am so thankful for this incredible community here.

Then in April I shared about this experience. It was life changing for me.

I came home energized & excited.

I told Sam that if I could do anything else, I would travel and share at another retreat in a heartbeat.

That would be crazy though, right? I mean, we have five kids.

Then Sam said, "what if you only traveled one weekend a month. I could hold down the fort."

And then we prayed about it...for months. And...I just knew

I knew that if I could do anything else, I would want to encourage other women in their journey...face to face. I would share stories from the past, truth from the Bible and be open about the struggles and mistakes that I've made along the way. It would totally be worth it if someone walked away experiencing the love of God.

What does this mean?

As we round out 2014 and into the spring of 2015, I want to offer this retreat opportunity, on the topic of contentment, to other women's groups. Are you, or someone you know, thinking of planning a women's retreat or gathering a group of women together in the near future? If so, I would love to work together with you on this! The previous retreat that I did consisted of three sessions together. We gathered on a Friday night and I shared a bit of my testimony. Then we met together again on Saturday morning for two sessions.

Why the topic of contentment?

Well, as a 32 year old mother of five living in America this was a topic that I had been wrestling with the Lord about for years. You see, in college I told God that I would go live in a hut in Africa and now over ten years later I find myself still in America watching home remodeling shows on HGTV and debating things in my head like granite counter tops and buying new couch pillows...and yet earnestly desiring to see HIS kingdom come here and now! I feel that it is a relevant topic for all of us.

What does this cost?

My heart is simply to make this retreat available to you with no set fee in mind. My only request is that traveling expenses be covered...anything beyond that can be determined based on what works best for your church/group. Because I am focusing the majority of my time on our family, I will only be committing to traveling at most, once a month, over this next year.

How do I find out more?

If you are interested in finding out more about this, feel free to email me at I can let you know what months are still available and we can talk about what format might work best for your group.

Ya'll, we might meet in would be so great to meet you. I can hardly wait! :-)

  1. What a great decision. Too often we wish to do something like this but then don't. Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your experiences!

  2. What an amazing step to take. Your topic on contentment - and even your explanation of it - sound so much like things I have experienced and wrestled with myself. What a wonderful journey to start.
